The research library contains eight research programs supporting the AIOS Intelligence System Research Overview. Each program has two depths.

Emergent and distributed cognition
Testable organizational emergence, distributed cognition, conscious-access boundaries, and post-decision integration
Relational memory
Cue-dependent recall, associative relationships, metadata, graph structure, provenance, and forgetting
Context composition
Context selection, ordering, compression, caching, cognitive modes, and information interference
AI-native architecture
Bounded semantic judgment, deterministic effects, permissions, observability, and agent safety
System capability and model routing
Harness lift, cumulative capability, dynamic routing, verification, and system-level evaluation
Local and sovereign AI
On-device capability, local custody, hybrid routing, privacy boundaries, file-native escalation, and security
Economics and institutions
Accepted-outcome economics, semantic switching costs, organizational memory, assurance, and distributed infrastructure
How to read the library
Readers can move among three depths without having to traverse the same amount of detail.
- Core essay: the complete AIOS thesis in one continuous argument.
- Concept pages: the mechanisms and implications developed in detail, with selective research connections.
- Research library: research briefs and full memos for readers who want methods, counterevidence, and source-level descent.
The briefs connect evidence directly to the chapters that own each AIOS mechanism. The full memos preserve source-level depth and enable verification without turning the core essay into a literature review.
The library does not define AIOS. The governing architecture is developed in the AIOS Intelligence System Core Thesis. Research enters the public overview only when it clarifies a mechanism, establishes a relevant boundary, distinguishes AIOS from neighboring work, or supplies a meaningful test.
